What You Should Do This American Heart Month

Learn how you can take care of your heart this month.

February is American Heart Month, an annual public health campaign that asks Americans to make their heart a priority.  Today, cardiovascular disease is still the number one cause of death in the U.S.  This is why it’s more important than ever to make healthy changes for the benefit of your heart.  This February, try out these suggestions to take better care of your heart health.

Break Bad Habits

If you are a smoker, you are increasing your chances of developing a cardiovascular condition every time you puff on a cigarette.  Additionally, if you often overindulge in alcohol, you are putting unnecessary strain on your heart as well.  This month, renew your efforts to kick these harmful habits for the sake of your heart.

Visit Your Doctor

This February, you should also schedule a check-up with your doctor.  Ask him or her to run the necessary tests so they can get an updated picture of your overall health.  Once you complete the examination, work with your doctor to create your long-term health plan.  Remember, you should never be afraid to ask questions or request clarifications.  You should understand the reasoning behind your doctor’s recommendations.

Make Healthy Lifestyle Changes

This month, you should also make an effort to improve your diet and get enough exercise.  To start, you should avoid eating fatty, cholesterol-rich foods.  Instead, fill your diet with heart healthy foods such as fish, nuts, oats, and fresh produce.  Additionally, you should attempt to step up your exercise regime this month.  Try to get 30 minutes of aerobic activity a day to keep your heart healthy and strong.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those affected by the fires that continue to burn in all of California.

This week is also Fire Prevention Week, which helps remind us to prepare for times just like so many are experiencing right now.

2017 MURRIETA ROD RUN

Join us on Friday October 13th and Saturday October 14th in Historic Downtown Murrieta for an awesome weekend of Sweet Rides, Great Food, Awesome People, and Music! Wait there’s MORE…  this event is Free to the Public and ALL of the proceeds will benefit the at-risk and special needs youth at Oak Grove.  So come on down and enjoy the FUN!

There will be:

  • OVER 20,000 Spectators
  • 2 Days of Cars, Vendors, Food & Fun

Join The Fight: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, Stromsoe Insurance Agency is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point during her life. After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer in women. The good news is that many women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early.

  • Know your risk by learning about your family health history and talking to
  • your health care provider about your personal risk.
  • If you are age 40 to 49, talk with your doctor about when to start getting mammograms and how often to get them.
  • Women ages 50 to 74 need mammograms every 2 years. You may choose to start getting mammograms earlier or to get them more often.

Make healthy lifestyle choices:
– Maintain a healthy weight
– Add exercise into your routine
– Limit alcohol intake
– Limit post menopausal hormone use
– Breastfeed if you can

 

Talk to a doctor about your risk for breast cancer, especially if a close family member has had breast or ovarian cancer. That way they can help you decide when and how often to get a mammogram.

Proud To Be Americans

It’s time to decorate the town red, white and blue and we couldn’t be more excited!

 

Here at Stromsoe Insurance we are proud to be Americans, and we’re not shy about it! Please join us in celebrating our brave men and women who fight for our freedoms day in and day out. As we remember everyday that freedom is not free, we display our flag proudly in as many ways as we can. These colors don’t run, and we are grateful to be able to enjoy our freedoms.

 

Our goal is to provide flags to those who need them, so local businesses and residents can showcase their   American spirit. The spirit doesn’t stop on the fronts of our homes or shops! If you already have a flag, we want to see it on social media.  Here’s the details:

 

  • From June 5th – 19th stop in during regular business hours (Monday—Friday 9:00- 5:00) to pick up your complimentary replacement flag at Stromsoe Insurance. (while supplies last).
  • Bring in your old flag if you’d like us to properly dispose of it.
  • Did you know over 90% of our American flags are manufactured outside of America!? None here in our office, and we will be giving you one that is 100% made in America as well because buying American   matters.
  • We want you to show off your American flag in our community! Use hashtag #flagsfromstromsoeins on social media along with a photo of your Ole Glory flying proudly!
  • Don’t be shy! We want the whole town in RED WHITE & BLUE!

 

Ways You Can Get Your Business Involved:

We want to make each Flag Day in our community better than the last. At the same time, we want to encourage local pride – and local shopping!

  • Display your own American flag proudly – during Flag Week (June 11th-17th, 2017), of course, but year-round, as well!
  • Have Red, White, and Blue Dress Down days for a donation to a worthy cause. Use the #flagsfromstromsoeins tag on social platforms to show your American and community pride.
  • Dress-up the kids and pets, too!
  • Make sure all your employees have American flags at their homes
  • Be sure to share this great community event on your social media channels.
  • We will be posting on social media and blogs. Local businesses that we know of that show their Flag Day pride will be mentioned in press releases and posts. It’s a great PR opportunity!
