How to Save Money in 2017

Everyone wants to save money, but as we all have learned one way or another, saving is a lot easier said than done.

One of your New Year’s resolutions may have been to save more money for your retirement plan. But the first month of the year may not have gone according to plan. But you still have a little under 11 months to fix any problems you have had earlier. If you want to get back on track (or get on the track in the first place) here are a few tips on how to wisely invest for 2017.

Money Saving Tips

  1. Take a real look at your investments. It’s time to take things seriously. If you have a financial advisor through which you invest, make an appointment with them to review your retirement plan.
  2. Adjust your tax withholdings. Part of the investment process is doing the right thing with your money at the right time. If you receive a rather large tax refund every year, you may want to consider adjusting your withholdings on your W-2 form.
  3. Increase your effort about finding extra money to invest. In order to invest seriously, you need the funds to do so. Try to find extra money any way you can (within the law, of course). One way to find extra funds is to review your insurance premiums and your deductibles.
  4. Stock market should not make you flinch. Not even the best economists in the world know what the stock market will do tomorrow, so don’t overreact to the stock market. Talk to your financial advisor about any doubts you may have.

Saving for your retirement is important, and your insurance policies are important too! For all of your general insurance needs in California, be sure to contact Stromsoe Insurance Agency. We are more than happy to help you get the coverage you deserve!

Celebrating Women’s History Month

March Is The Time To Recognize Women Who Have Served Us

Whether it is your mother, your sister, your friend, your colleague, or your boss, you likely have a woman in your life that you respect and for whom you are grateful. March is a great time to vocalize your feeling, as it marks Women’s History Month.

A fairly recent innovation, the United States has only been celebrating Women’s History Month for two decades. In that time, major supporters have come on board to encourage the celebration of the important female figures of yesterday and today. The Smithsonian Institute, National Park Service, National Gallery of Art, Library of Congress, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, National Endowment for the Humanities, and U.S. National Archives and Records Administration all recognize this important month.

March brings a unique opportunity to educate our children and ourselves about the important women from history and how their contributions affect us today. Can your child name one suffragette? Five female politicians? Can you? Take advantage of the month to become more educated about what women have done to advance our society and our world.

Even in today’s progressive America, data reveals that women are still paid less than men for performing the same jobs. We have come a long way towards gender equality, but there is still a road ahead. In your workplace and your home, be aware of the way that preconceived gender notions affect your behavior. Together, we can get one month closer to a world in which every person has equal opportunity for success and happiness.

Happy Women’s History Month! Contact Stromsoe Insurance Agency for all of your California insurance needs. Our team of expert independent insurance agents is here to ensure you have the coverage you need to be freed up for progressing our society towards equality.

The Best Agent For The Job

Three Ways An Independent Insurance Agent Can Serve You

Let’s face it- some agents are just better than others. A secret agent is better than an IRS agent (no offense). A cleaning agent is better than an infectious agent. In the same way, an independent insurance agent is better than a captive insurance agent. Here are a few reasons to consider working with an independent agent to get your coverage.

  • Advocacy: You are not an insurance expert, so you should not have to go toe-to-toe with major insurance providers when you have an issue with your claim. Fortunately, with an independent agent you will not have to. Your agent can advocate for you, ensuring you never overpay for your coverage. Furthermore, he or she can help you file your claim in the first place to avoid snafus down the road.
  • Options: Unlike a captive agency that can only offer you plans from one insurance provider, an independent agent can show you policies from every provider with whom he or she works. This makes it easier for you to find the right policy to meet your specific needs, ensuring you do not overpay for coverage you will not use or get left facing a gap in coverage.
  • Savings: Similarly, because your agent can show you plans from multiple providers, you can compare prices for comparable coverage. This means that you can shop quotes without having to do the hard work of collecting those quotes, which will mean more money in your wallet for less effort.

You deserve to have an independent insurance agent secure you the fullest coverage at the most competitive price. Contact Stromsoe Insurance Agency for all of your California insurance needs. We are here to ensure you have a friend in the insurance industry.

Best 5 Charities to Support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In the midst of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it becomes increasingly more important that individuals and organizations continue to strive and make a difference. When it comes to charities making a difference in realms of breast cancer awareness, it is important that not only the funds raised are measured, but also how the funds are used is analyzed. With around 200,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States annually, it is imperative that these charities are making the lives of those affected by breast cancer more purposeful and manageable. Gathered is a list of 5 breast cancer charities that go above and beyond to make notable impacts on the lives of those affected by breast cancer:

  1. Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Established in 1982, this is one of the most recognized breast cancer charities that impresses year after year. Dedicating only 6.3% of funds raised to administrative costs, this charity put 82.3% of funds raised in the 2013 fiscal year towards funding research, screening, treatment programs, and education.
  2. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation – Since this charity was founded in 1993, over $220 million has been raised. All funds raised go towards discovering innovational, clinical and translational research opportunities, at a variety of international medical centers. Additionally, the charity strives to increase public awareness of early detection and overall breast health.
  3. Living Beyond Breast Cancer – This charity works directly with those recently diagnosed with breast cancer, educating them and supporting them in their journey. Both patients and healthcare professionals benefit from the free webinars, community outreach programs, newsletters, podcasts, and national conferences put on by this charity.
  4. National Breast Cancer Foundation – This reputable charity provides affordable solutions for mammograms for women who are financially limited to these resources. This charity works on the fact that early detection is key in conquering this disease.
  5. BreastCancer.org – This charity provides those affected by breast cancer with easily accessible information, regarding some of the most trying decisions you will have to make.

We support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the five charities above! Contact Stromsoe Insurance Agency in Murrieta for all of your California insurance needs. We will go above and beyond to insure every corner of your world!

The Benefits Of Having An Independent Agent By Your Side During The Claims Process

Filing a claim is a notoriously stressful process. Insurance claims tend to be tied to the most stressful events in our lives, including auto accidents, home fires, storm damage, and even the death of a family member. With everything on your mind during this stressful time, it is imperative that you work with an insurance company and agent with whom you trust. During this time, you will want to work with an agent whom you have already developed a trusting relationship with. This person will be the one you call when life takes a turn for the worst.

After you file an insurance claim, you will work with an adjustor to evaluate your loss. Depending on the type of claim you are filing, the adjustor may need to examine your property or vehicle to gather necessary information. At this time, you will be offered a settlement amount, and the process to restore your loss will begin.

What happens if the process does not go so smoothly? What happens if the adjustor and you cannot agree on a settlement amount? What happens if you cannot provide the adjustor with the right documentation? Problems such as these are why you need to work with an insurance agent with whom you trust and know. As your agent, they will advocate on your behalf. If any problems arise, you can hand over the phone to your agent to communicate with the adjustor. When you need help, your agent will be right by your side.

Some insurance shoppers prefer to purchase insurance online to avoid talking to an agent, however, this is only setting you up for future problems. Yes, sometimes you may be able to get cheaper rates this way, however, you leave yourself susceptible to problems, and lack of personalized service.

The experienced agents at Stromsoe Insurance Agency want to be by your side during this stressful time of your life. Contact us today for all of your California insurance needs. You can start your long term relationship with an insurance agent who will always guide you through the most stressful moments of life.

Operation School Bell

Established in 1989, Operation School Bell has been able to provide clothes for over 25,000 children in need. This philanthropic program strives to enhance self-esteem, promote learning, and encourage regular school attendance.

The Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Menifee, and Temecula School Districts have joined forces to give children in need the attention they deserve. We accept referrals by district health clerks as well, providing any child with the clothing they need.

Teaming up with Kohl’s stores in Temecula, Murrieta, and Menifee, and the Target in Lake Elsinore, we have come up with a program that helps children get clothing for the school year. This “shopping event” allows children to attend their appointment time with their parents and spend $125 for necessary school appropriate items. The only thing we expect in return is a smile on each child’s face. One of the most disheartening things is to hear a child say they have never owned clothing they can call their own.

Our Save Our Schools (SOS) program has helped multiple preschool students from Head Start, State Preschool, and Special Education Preschool in the Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, and Lake Elsinore School Districts. Any child in need receives a duffle bag filled with hygienic items and a change of clothing.

Operation School Bell strives to provide children with the attention they deserve and clothing on their backs. As long as children leave happy with big smiles on their faces, we can sleep at night knowing we have done a good thing.

Wishing All Fathers A Great Father’s Day!

Since the year 1972 we have set aside a day in June to celebrate fathers, and show our appreciation. The United States is home to more than 70 million fathers. It is a rarely known fact that Mother’s Day preceded Father’s Day by 58 years! Many people ridiculed the proposed idea of Father’s Day, arguing that their attachment to their children was not as strong as that of mothers. Additionally, both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day were facing criticism from citizens who believed the holidays were simply a commercial scheme to sell unnecessary gifts to consumers. At one point, both holidays were almost completely abolished.

The great depression brought significant challenges to the effort of making Father’s Day a federal holiday. Expenses were tight, and people were not convinced that they should be spending their precious dollars on a holiday such as Father’s Day. However, during World War II, businesses used Father’s Day as a method of convincing consumers they were commemorating the troops. This had some success, and by the end of the war Father’s Day was a national establishment. In the end, it was Richard Nixon who authorized the proclamation that initiated Father’s Day into the club of federal holidays. It is estimated that citizens of the United States spend more than $1 billion dollars every year on gifts for their fathers.

The Stromsoe Insurance Agency team would like to take a moment to wish all fathers a wonderful Father’s Day! We acknowledge that we could not experience life if it weren’t for these men, and we thank you for all that you do. If you have any insurance related questions, don’t hesitate to contact one of the top independent insurance firms in California, Stromsoe Insurance Agency!
